Kinderopvang Humanitas is one of the biggest providers of childcare on a non-profit making basis with childcare day centres, centres for out of school care, play groups and host parent carers throughout the Netherlands. Every day, thousands of children from babies to thirteen-year olds are offered a variety of activities in a safe and trustworthy environment.

By ‘leading’ we not only mean that our care and service are of a high quality but also that we are actively involved with the development of childcare in the Netherlands. All our investments are directed towards further development of the quality of our service.

Kinderopvang Humanitas is a very special foundation of the ‘Vereniging Humanitas’ (‘Humanitas Association’) which has existed for 60 years and is part of the ‘Humanitas Alliance’. Humanitas stands for a society in which people take responsibility for living together. These ideas define how we go about our work in childcare and how we relate to children, parents and colleagues.

Approximately 1900 employees work at Kinderopvang Humanitas, of whom 1700 work in our childcare day centres, out of school care centres and play groups. A further 200 employees support them in regional offices and at head office. In addition, more than 900 host parent carers work for Kinderopvang Humanitas.

Every week, 7000 children attend our childcare day centres; another 7200 children go to our out of school care centres and 1100 children go to one of the play groups. In addition, 2200 children are received by a host parent carer arranged by Kinderopvang Humanitas.

Kinderopvang Humanitas opts for quality. Quality comes first in our daily work. But how can parents judge quality? Their considerations include the atmosphere, the location, the professional childcarers, the outside play facilities and a possible waiting list. All these are important. But if you would like to have a better insight into quality, you can find out if a childcare organisation has an HKZ/ISO certificate. Then you will know that they take quality seriously, that clear working agreements have been made and that they have matters under control.
